Many of us do not know what it is to truly hunger… physically or
spiritually. We have plenty to eat each day. So our physical needs and
desire are met. Unfortunately, many do not see their need for
spiritual food. Too many are starving for just a taste of God. It is
heartbreaking for me to realize that too many of us refuse to eat when
God has placed a feast before us. We turn down God provision for we are
already filled with the world. Sunday morning worship is meant to
be a feast of God spiritual provisions but it rather has become a place
where people sit unemotional and uninvolved for they are bloated with
the ways of the world. When given the chance to minister or to quietly
spend time in Scripture, people declare weariness from a week work and
life.
It is my prayer that
as we celebrate the birth of our nation with food and festivities on
this fourth of July, each of us will not allow ourselves to continue be
spiritually malnourished but rather we daily partake and delight in the
banquet which Christ has set out before us!
Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
