Ever since the fall, sin has
wreaked havoc on the world and its inhabitants.
Paul, in the eighth chapter of Romans, describes how every part creation
awaits restoration when he declares, “For the creation waits with eager longing...
[to] be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the
glory of the children of God. (19, 21)” If you are like me, then you connect
with the thought expressed in these verses.
The consequences of living in a fallen world are palpable. The weight of living for Christ is forever
present and at times feels unbearable.
Yet, God continues to tarry and we continue to be Christians living in a
fallen world.
That being the case, the
question is, then how are those who profess Christ live in a world, a culture
opposed to Him and His way? The answer is
simple yet difficult. It is simple in
that answer is to have complete confidence in Him who calls us to
Salvation. It is difficult for thought
our hope lies with Him who was victorious on the Christ, the battle still
rages.
It is my prayer that each of
us will daily take into account the words of a few verses in Lamentation… and
that we will live these out daily! Let
us remember the assurances found in Lamentations
3:22-24, that “The
steadfast love of the Lord never
ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every
morning; great is your faithfulness. “The
Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
